nominal thickness of nozzle

nominal thickness of nozzle

(OP)
I am really confused about nominal thickness of nozzle.
I am newbie
can all of you help me please?

what is the nominal thickness of nozzle? where I can get the value of that?

RE: nominal thickness of nozzle

It is just like asking, what is the nominal thickness of a plate? Well, it depends on the design.
Whatever the nominal thickness of a plate is, there will be a tolerance on that thickness. That is, actual thickness will differ from the nominal.
If you can understand the above, simply replace "plate" with "pipe".

RE: nominal thickness of nozzle

Konan71;
Newbie or not you are going to have to provide more information to offer good advice. In what context do you need to understand nominal thickness, and what is the application - on a boiler, pressure vessel, pipe run? The reason is nominal thickness can apply to base material and weld deposits with respect to the code of construction. This is why more information is required.

RE: nominal thickness of nozzle

Short answer, nominal is its "name" thickness, that is, for example Sch 40 (0.375 in) and does not account for tolerance, corrosion, thread allowance, required thickness, or anything else.

Mike

Review either ASTM A/ASME SA 999 General Requirements for Alloy and Steel Pipe. Nominal thickness is well defined and will provide you with what you need.
