A286 Stainless Steel per SAE AMS 5726

(OP)
Hey all,

Does anyone have experience with this flavor steel? A286 mfr. per SAE AMS 5726 Apparently it is supposed to have a UTS = 200 ksi...Is this the strongest steel available?

Thanks,

TJ

RE: A286 Stainless Steel per SAE AMS 5726

"Is this the strongest steel available? "

Well...no, for corrosion-resistant steels there are other PH steels and nickel/iron superalloys with higher achievable tensile strengths, and there are other steels and alloys with UTS approaching 300 ksi. I'm also not sure that 200 ksi UTS is achievable for A286...see data sheet here: http://www.specialtysteelsupply.com/pdf/LSS-A286.p...

RE: A286 Stainless Steel per SAE AMS 5726

AMS 5726 specifies 200 ksi strength level for A286 steel. This is not the strongest steel available.
