Drainage time for tanks

Drainage time for tanks

Drainage time for tanks

(OP)
I am working on sizing the drain pipe of several tanks / pump boxes (for slurry applications). Depending on the size of this pipe, the drainage time of these tanks varies between a few minutes to a few hours. I wonder if there is a recommended range for the drainage time for such applications. Any ideas?

RE: Drainage time for tanks

Is it rated for full vacuum? If not, don't drain it faster than the vent/relief system can handle, or it will become sucked in.

Good luck,
Latexman

It is for emptying the tanks fully. Can you explain your answer more?

RE: Drainage time for tanks

Is the tanks rated for full vacuum? If not, don't drain them faster than the vent/relief systems can handle, or the tanks will collapse due to excessive vacuum.

Good luck,

The top of these tanks are open so there is not going to be any vacuum issues.

RE: Drainage time for tanks

In that case, size the drain pipe such that there are no downstream problems.

Good luck,
Latexman
