Hi everyone, I am having a slight issue. I am fairly new to the world of ANSYS workbench and am trying to do a contact analysis of a mating male and female spline tooth experiencing wear. I have applied symmetry to the side of each tooth section and fixed the female spline around its outer surface. I have then applied a torque to the face of the male shaft and then created a frictionless contact between the male and female tooth surfaces in contact. However the results I am getting don't make any sense, the female spline after solution experiences a high uniform stress on the entire shape and a strange stress variation on the female spline tooth. I have attached a screenshot of the results and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or help in any way as I have been trying to get this to work for nearly a week now but haven't had any luck morning.

Looks to me like you have non-involute contact.
Go back and check the spline geometry.
Make sure there is clearance between the form and tip diameters.
Are you working to a spline standard?

The spline was origonally made to ANSI 1970 class five standard but it has been remoddled to simmulated heavy wear so the side in contact is assumed no longer involute. Is there anything you can think of where I would have gone wrong in the ANSYS setup, I havent added any additional cohordinate systems for applying the symetry, not sure if that could play a factor.
