ANSYS of a gear/ Spline
ANSYS of a gear/ Spline
(OP)
Hi everyone, I am having a slight issue. I am fairly new to the world of ANSYS workbench and am trying to do a contact analysis of a mating male and female spline tooth experiencing wear. I have applied symmetry to the side of each tooth section and fixed the female spline around its outer surface. I have then applied a torque to the face of the male shaft and then created a frictionless contact between the male and female tooth surfaces in contact. However the results I am getting don't make any sense, the female spline after solution experiences a high uniform stress on the entire shape and a strange stress variation on the female spline tooth. I have attached a screenshot of the results and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or help in any way as I have been trying to get this to work for nearly a week now but haven't had any luck
.
Thanks guys
. Thanks guys

Go back and check the spline geometry.
Make sure there is clearance between the form and tip diameters.
Are you working to a spline standard?
