Apply Residual Stresses

Apply Residual Stresses

(OP)
Hello all,

I'm currently working with residual stresses and I need to model a hollow cylinder and simulate residual stresses due to its manufacture process. After that, the objective is to remove several layers of 50 microns, for example, and analyse how those residual stresses rearange themselves.
I have been reading about it and i still have doubts wether I should go with INISTATE or apply termal loads to simulate those residual stresses. Does anyone have experience with residual stresses and wouldn't mind to give me some tips? Even if not directly related with my question, all the help is welcome!

Thank you all,

João Carmona,
University of Coimbra
