Looking for a Rubber Spacer/Strip Source

Looking for a Rubber Spacer/Strip Source

Looking for a Rubber Spacer/Strip Source

(OP)
I am looking for a supply of rubber spacers/strips as illustrated in the attached image.

The purpose of this strip is that you would supply several different thicknesses so that you can put the spacer of your choice inside a tube which clamps around a round surface. The thicknesses would be around 0.030-0.060".

In this way, you can design the ID of your product on the large side and supply the rubber spacers to allow it accommodate differing tubes (which the product clamps around).

I have seen these supplied with bike lights that clamp on your seat tube or handlebars, but cannot find either the name of this product, nor a source for it.

Thanks for your suggestions,
Drew

Hi Julep,

Thanks for the link.

The issue more comes from finding something that has the cross section posted above. There is a whole world of rubber strip products, but I am not familiar with a variety that is a) not a tape and b) has the cross section as sketched.

The purpose of the raised edges is to both retain and orient the strip between the circular parts being clamped. The width of the clamp would be equal to the width between the raised edges on the top surface of the tape.

I am wondering if there is a name for this product specifically.

Is the OP thinking perhaps of an Adel clamp?

Hi Berkshire,

Thanks for your comment. I am looking for something close to the rubber piece that is pictured when you search of Adel clamp:

The difference is that it would have the cross section as posted above. The "tabs"/"ears" that protrude from the upper surface help to locate or center the strip within the clamp, as well as prevent the strip from migrating.

I am designing a part that will clamp on a round tube. In order to more easily accommodate the tolerances of the tubes to be clamped, I wanted to supply a few different rubber strips (ideally with the locating "ears") of varying thicknesses. It is not necessary that it is adhesive.

I am trying to launch a small startup and as such cannot afford to have a custom rubber extrusion made. If this is not an off the shelf item, okay, just was wondering if anyone out there knew something I didnt. I had searched for this part previously, but as you can imagine, it is an endless rabbit hole when you search "rubber strip".

Thanks!
