Fuel Gas Purge Fow Rate

Fuel Gas Purge Fow Rate

Fuel Gas Purge Fow Rate

(OP)
Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to calculate the fuel gas purge flow rate required for a horizontal cold vent open to atmosphere?

So far the only information i can find is realted to vertical flare stacks (API 521). Can these formulae be applied for my case as well? If not, how can i proceed with the calculation?

Thanks.

RE: Fuel Gas Purge Fow Rate

I assume that this is not continuous purge. I assume that this is start up or maintenance purge. In any event, if the purge is continuous you could use the correlations in API 521 but I cannot envisage a scenario where one would continuously vent fuel gas to atmosphere without at least flaring it.

This is a case of continuous purge. Gas is routed from the production header to vent header where there is a knock out drum.
