NX7.5 - BLEND TOPIC

NX7.5 - BLEND TOPIC

(OP)
Hi,
Please, see the attachment:
I need to blend the yellow faces of the Swept4, on the long edges (on the left and right of the text ‘EDGE”).
But I can’t!
Can somebody tell me why?
Certainly, there’s a connection between Swept and Blend, but I do not get it……..

Thanks

RE: NX7.5 - BLEND TOPIC

What you think are 4 edges on the yellow face are actually 2 edges. In the swept feature, turn on the "preserve shape" option to keep the 4 edges. This will then allow the blends to be applied.

The swept command is often used to transition from one shape to another. To do this it will often convert the input sections to splines. In cases like yours, you want to sweep a constant shape along a freeform guide; using "preserve shape" will keep the hard edges you need.

RE: NX7.5 - BLEND TOPIC

See attached image.
If you try add a smaller blend than the minimum radius found on this face, it will most probably fit without complaints.
When sweeping profiles like this, turn on the "preserve shape" , else NX will create only two faces for the profile, and then the modeling distance tolerance will dictate how small/big this "ridge" will become. ( Try set the tolerance to ~ 1/4 the width of the profile)
Regards,
Tomas
