Selecting with tables - stresses

Selecting with tables - stresses

Selecting with tables - stresses

(OP)
Hello,

I have a model and I'm trying to select certain frames which are within a specified stress range. I can get the table to display the items I want through the Display > Tables command and then filtering and sorting, but from here, I cannot select the frames.

If I try to use the Select > By Tables command, then I cannot get to the frame stresses.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

RE: Selecting with tables - stresses

This can be done in SAP2000. Run the Analysis and Design, go to Select menu>Select using tables, not the Display>Show tables that you used. Use select load cases button to select only the load combinations used for design. Select steel summary table and press Ok to generate the table. Next, use Format-Filter-Sort and Filter the results as you want. You could, for example, filter to see only members which have a stress ratio above .85 or whatever value or between two values. After you've entered your filter, press ok to view the filtered table. Next use Select menu to select the entire filtered table. You can do the same thing to select by frame element stresses or area stresses
