RTU Curbs Leveling Installation

RTU Curbs Leveling Installation

RTU Curbs Leveling Installation

(OP)
Mfg. Roof Curb installation depicts a max of 5.43" leveling tolerance at the "compressor and condenser end" of RTU to prevent standing water.
The roof is metal deck with EPDM roof with a pitch toward the the roof drains.
Roof curb is approximately 18' x 7'. Approximately 2,000 lbs

What is recommended method of shimming curb and shimming material to be used.
Any drawing details would also appreciated.

Have already researched SMACNA "Guidelines for Roof Mounted Outdoor Air-Conditioner Installation" manual and other manuals, have not found recommended methods.

RE: RTU Curbs Leveling Installation

On smaller curbs, level with 14g-18g broken metal from the outside with flange turned in. We use 4 pieces and no corners. Use pan head teks drilled from outside in. We order or build curbs with flange turned in. If using stock KD curbs, lever on inside and flange turned out. On larger curbs or vibro type curbs, have the curb built with a slope on bottom. We have done a few larger curbs with a fixed height and leveled with broken metal then “shimmed” under the flange with fireproof wood to transfer the weight. You listed the curb weight but need to list the equipment weight too. Most curb mfg. offer a self-leveling option which has a slip sleeve on the outside which you slide to match the slope but you are limited in max out of level.
