Conceptual road design tools

(OP)
In my many years of road design, i have found that the commercial tools out there have quite a steep learning curve and as a manager, it takes quite a bit of effort to keep upto date with new releases. I would like to know what the members here use for simple, quick layouts which you can present in a very short time. I recently saw a beta version of a product called EngOnCloud (freely available at www.engoncloud.com) which you can use to create road alignments directly in Google Maps and MapQuest. Your shared experiences on this topic is most appreciated.

RE: Conceptual road design tools

Spazax5 - It depends whether you are planning on looking at the profile or not. We use INROADS for our planning efforts. This is primarily because we take our planning level concepts and begin our design. I do recall an old time back in the day using a spreadsheet to evaluate profiles and French curves for plan. Hope that helps.
