Hi All,
Can anybody help explain why in the latest ASME B31.3 edition 2010. They delete Notes (7) in appendix A, which previously limits the temperature of the material?
Does it mean that after this deletion, we can use the material abouve the previously restricted temperature? As long we follow the remaining notes in each materials.
Also, why in the 2008 edition, ASME 31.3 prohibit the API 5L X42, X52 etc, to be used over 400 deg F ?

Because they didn't have any good information about how it loses strength over 400F.
It was not, and probably still is not, favored for high temp use.
Being generally so thin-walled, hot spots could easily develop.
