Electric motor with and rpm range of 60 to 3000 rpm

Electric motor with and rpm range of 60 to 3000 rpm

(OP)
Hi,

I'm looking to find a (smallish) electric motor that could reliably perform at an rpm of 60 and 3000. If anyone has any ideas that would be great?

Cheers,
WS

What is "smallish"?

A few watts? FHP? Horsepower?

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Sorry, I'm a postgraduate chemist trying to find an attachment for a machine that will spin a small tube (ø 4mm) via a belt drive at both 60 rpm and 3000 rpm. Hopefully, it will be no bigger than something you'd find in a hand drill. Or if that can't be done, just what spec of motor you'd need to perform at both those ranges?

Is that any help?

Try a small DC motor (read "toy motor") and feed it from a lab DC power supply. You may find it difficult to keep the speed constant at the lower range but if load is fairly constant, it will work. The speed ratio is 50:1 and that normally implies a drive with a tach feed-back.

Have a look at the Fischer modelling kits. Even LEGO could work quite well for you. Other suppliers are Electro-Craft, Maxxon, Faulhaber.

Ok, thanks for your help. That's great.
