Super Duplex 2507

(OP)
Working on developing four welding procedures for an up-coming project which involves welding of Super Duplex 2507 to its self & to A36 carbon steel. Welding process is GMAW+P & GTAW Weld wire for both processes is ER2594. Shielding gas for GMAW+P Ar 92%, He 5%, Cᵒ²1.3%, Ni 1.7%. GTAW Ar 93%, He 5.3%, Ni 1.7%. All four PQR have passed ASME destructive test requirements. Customer has now requested test samples for 2507 welded using same two processes weld consumable changed to Hastilloy C35 can anyone recommend shielding gas for both GMAW+P & GTAW.

RE: Super Duplex 2507

For the Hastelloy G35 to 2507 use welding grade Ar with less than 2% N2 for GTAW. He is not needed. For MIG you are probably looking at an 60% Ar, 39%He, 1%O2 or similar combination.
