Hi,
it's possible to attach with associative surface symbol to extension line of dimensions ?

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC9.1

RE: Surface finish symbol

I don't think you can attach the symbol associatevely(sp?. But When you are moving it though if you put it right over the extension line of the dimension the line you want to put it on should highlight.

RE: Surface finish symbol

Not necessarily to the extension line but you can pick the same edge that you dimensioned to, change the leader type to Flag (from plain) and pick the edge on the drawing.
You can attach datums to an extention line by changing the leader type, you will see in the leader menu when you get there.

RE: Surface finish symbol

There is only plain and "all-around" option when you try to attach surface finish symbol.

And by the way the symbol you pictured is not a surface finish symbol.

Sure it's a finish symbol.
It may be differnt in NX8, but the flag was there in NX7.5 just under plain and all around liek you mentioned.
My computer just got reloaded so I won't have NX7.5 for another day or two. I am only on NX6 right now.

RE: Surface finish symbol

I may have to dig out my drafting book but isn't surface finish just a normal check mark with whatever surface finish requirment above it?

RE: Surface finish symbol

Yes, but there are other types too, which are basically modified versions of the check mark.
The 3.2 is the metric version of the microinch that you are probably familar with.
You may want to check out the Machineries Handbook.

RE: Surface finish symbol

Thanks, I will. There is one on the bookshelf next to me

Hi Jerry, with Flag leader type works well, but for ISO standard and I think ANSI too, the surface symbol must stay in the removed material side as the image attached.
I think that if you add PMI surface symbol, NX puts the symbol in the right side.

RE: Surface finish symbol

Cuba,
Set the option to "flag" , then press the "Select terminating object button" and then select the extension line...
Then you can drag / flip etc. ( Note my cursor above the symbol in the attached image.)

Tomas

RE: Surface finish symbol

In NX7.5 I was able to flip the finish symbol to the other side simply by dragging it.

Toost,
if I need to move to other side after added, I'm not able.

Thank you...

RE: Surface finish symbol

That's strange. After closing the menu, i can press-drag-release the symbol and it will both move along the extension line or flip to the other side. I run NX 8.0.1.5

Toots,
the problem is not more present after workstation reboot.
We have some strange behaviour on mouse work.

Thank you...
