there is many type of soil classified as problematic soil like Lateritic soils Unsaturated soils, can you give me the resone to classified as problematic soil and the properties of this soil and how we can test and estimate the parameters the effect on soil and classified as problematic soil

RE: peoblematic soil

Ahmesaad....your question is way too general to be answered with the specificity that you desire. Many different soils are problematic for a variety of reasons. A soil that is problematic in one application might not be problematic in another. As an example, clean sands are not problematic for foundation applications when confined at the footing bearing level; however, these same materials would be problematic if used as a base or subgrade materialwithout supplementation for pavements.

thanks Ron, i agree with you ... let me ask about unsaturated soil, to calculate bearing capacity we assume the soil is saturated and this i critical case, why unsaturated soil classified as problematic soil, thanks

RE: peoblematic soil

Expansive clay soils, collapsible soils (dry, loose, i.e. fill or some arid climate soils), highly compressible organic soils, these are examples of soils that cause problems :)

You test by hiring a geotechnical engineer :)
