Lincoln STT Welding Process

Lincoln STT Welding Process

Lincoln STT Welding Process

(OP)
Hello,
Has anyone had experience using Lincoln's STT process in the pipelining field? How easy is it to use in open air conditions, in the mud etc. Lincoln rep did demo for us today, but in workshop conditions. Was very impressed with speed, weld finish as welded, but am a bit worried if sound welds can be produced outdoors, with a bit of wind (even under a canopy).

RE: Lincoln STT Welding Process

The STT process has been successfully used in field applications on power and petrochemical plants. I do not know of its use in cross country pipelines. Ask Lincoln for contacts from pipeline contractors using the process.

RE: Lincoln STT Welding Process

sapipeliner,
Lincoln STT is absolutely brilliant for certain workshop applications but have never heard of it used outside of the workshop.
Just remember it is still GMAW and how much of this process do you see outside of a workshop (as Stanweld noted it has been used on power and petrochem projects but I would presume they were in controlled environments) - pipelines, different story.
Cheers,
Kiwi
