Dear all,
can any one reply to the follwing question :
(1) is F316/HF an acceptable alternative for F6 trim ?
(2) Which is the most important cretiria for the trim selection: strength, hardness or corrosion resistance ?

In the first reply to thread408-332279: Trim 10 there's a link that gives the different API valve trims. I suggest you study it and make an informed decision.

Hi ENPMAT:

Your question is very broad, and offers little input in order to select a trim (or even a body material). What medium are you dealing with? At what pressure? And what temperature?

Have a look at: http://alloy-valves.com/material-overview.htm for an overview of API 600 valve trims. However, you should start by defining material/pressure/temperature prior to selecting a trim or body mnaterial.

My focus is on valve stockists in the us and uk who supply duplex and super duplex valves, and inconel and hastelloy valves, plus titanium, alloy 20 and 904L valves.

I have seen some trim material such as 17-4PH,F6NM and...
which are not exist in API600 table8.
Is there another standard or reference in order to select control valve trim material?

316 with cobalt hard faced trim is good for high temperature and corrosive and wearing service, it depends on the process conditions. I used alot of this kind of trims for high pressure and high temperature steam service. the seat ring and plug is always 316 coated with cobalt. the stem is usually Nitrile50, high alloy.
