piping material estimation in PRELIMINARY PHASE

(OP)
Hello,

I would like to know if anyone knows a method to estimate the piping material in project in the preliminary phase, with the P&IDs and simple Layouts. Could you recomend me some bibliography?

Thanks in advance.

RE: piping material estimation in PRELIMINARY PHASE

I suggest you go here: http://pipingdesigners.com/Tools%20-%20section%208...
The bottom two items are first an instruction sheet and second an excel spread sheet tool to do exactly what you are asking for. Simple and fast!

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: piping material estimation in PRELIMINARY PHASE

You really should specify fluid and flow rate in a question like that. If you are talking about a million barrels a day of sea water you are in a different set of materials than if you're talking about 2 MCF/day of sweet natural gas.
