I'm trying to 'dumb down' a part of ours in order to increase load times.

The part in question consists of about 200 bodies and I would like to unite them and save them as 3-5 bodies.

Would this make the part 'lighter'?
How can I do this?

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

RE: save united bodies as one

Have you thought about creating a linked exterior? You do need and advanced assemblies licence though. We do them for all our engines and we can reduce the load time from 20 minutes to about 15 seconds (lightweight)

Similar to capnhooks suggestion, you could perform the Unite then Export to a new part and tick the Remove Parameters option, in which case all solids would be exported and appear as Body in the Model Navigator.
