ASME reinforcement welding

ASME reinforcement welding

ASME reinforcement welding

(OP)
Hello,
I'm searching ASME manual, but I just remmbered I registered here as well so maybe someone could save me reading hours.
I need rule for welding reinforcement part of pipe to shell pipe. Trouble is if I use standard a=0,7 tmin. I don't have enough pipe thickness, since "a" is calculated arround 12,2 so normally I would use a13, but there is no room for that ofcourse. Is there a=0,5timn allowed (cant't remember)? THX.

RE: ASME reinforcement welding

I assume Design Code is ASME Section VIII Division 1. I also assume you are asking about the fillet weld size requirements whether the joint between pipe and shell is full penetration or not. The minimum weld size requirements are given in UW-16. These weld sizes may be required to increase if required to meet UW-15 and UG-37.
