Crossing Members

I have a series of beams in two directions and when I merge these, I get joints at the intersections.

I want to create individual members between the joints so I can delete a few of these elements. How can I break the long continuous members at the joints?

RE: Crossing Members

Dik-
Only way I know to do it is to go to Modify/ Split Memebers/ then insert a node (from star node being I and end node being J) in the same location as where the node exists that you would liek to break the member.
Select the box that says "actually split physical member"
once you insert the node, the member will be split up into individual members.

just be easier to delete the physical member and leave the nodes then redraw the members you want.

Thanks, Toad... that's the manner I've used... I was just wondering if there was an easier way.

RE: Crossing Members

dik,
If you edit the particular member you want to split up, and un-check the "Physical Member" box on it, then go into the Tools menu and do a Full Model Merge, the member in question will be split into individual members instead of its original "physical-member-with-multiple-joints".

Thanks, JAE... will give it a try...

Thanks, Mike... feel better already! Started out the day pretty poor... -25C and broke the handle off my truck door... so, this is an improvement!

Did it the 'slow' way the first time (see my response to Toad... by Day 1!) For future times, I'll do as JAE suggested now that I know how...
