Oil nozzle sizing
Oil nozzle sizing
(OP)
Hi,
I'm sizing a lubrication system for a transmission gearbox.
According to flow rate and pressure generated by oil pump, I've calculated a nozzle size of 0.7mm to lubricate a ball bearings.
Is it a feasible hole size for a nozzle in a lubrication system?
Thanks
Pierluigi

The oil is supplied to the bearings through a gallery whose diamater is 0.7mm.

What sort of flow rate are you expecting? Just check that the velocity through the jet isn't too high. Anecdotal evidence is of the fluid jet actually drilling a hole in the housing at the point where the high velocity fluid stream struck.
The attached datasheet is just one place where you can buy the jet you want. You can also get them from Sun Hydraulics.
