Material in accordance with API650

Material in accordance with API650

Material in accordance with API650

(OP)
We have quotations for a Fire water tank og 650 m3 for our warehouse in Vietnam.
All quotations specify using SS400 carbon steel materials.
I been trying to fine out if this material can be according to API650 or not. some comparison tables says that equivalent materials are ASTM A36, ASTM A283 Grade D
I am assuming we are talking about JIS G3101 SS400
My understanding at the moment is that we can use use this material given that we specify the content on Mn and C

I would like your opinion if my understanding is correct or not, any other relevant advice is very welcome :)

RE: Material in accordance with API650

ekos;
Is this storage tank going to contain water? If so, you will have a corrosion pitting problem if you don't have an internal barrier coating to protect the carbon steel. Also, API650 is normally used for welded tanks for oil storage, not water. Using this standard is acceptable for fluid storage but you better re-consider the material of construction.
