API Q1 certification

API Q1 certification

API Q1 certification

(OP)
I'm working for a company which provides industrial inspection and testing services. We have EN ISO/IEC 17020 & 17025 accredidation and a working QM system. We are not manufacturing any products.
I have few question about Q1 certification program.
  • Does a service provider like my company get Q1 certification
  • To get Q1 certification does the company must also have ISO 9001 certification? or just a QM system that meet the requirements of the Q1 is sufficient.
I'm asking these question because Q1 written in such a language that almost neglecting service providers. It keep repeating the words ISO 900x, products, manufacture etc.

thanks in advance.

RE: API Q1 certification

I would suggest reading API Q2. Q2 is written for service companies.

RE: API Q1 certification

You are correct, Q1 is written for manufacturers. API is introducing a new standard, Q2, specifically for service providers. I don't know anything about it, other than it is new and it is for service providers. It seems it was published in December, 2011. If you go to API.org you should be able to find a contact that could get you more information.
