Part offser in CAM workpiece
Part offser in CAM workpiece
(OP)
I have just found this option, but it has some problems.
Cavity mill, Fixed contour, Z-level profile works fine, but Face milling area doesn't inherit the above offset. Is there a hidden switch for this?
thanks in advance

If face milling, the behavior changes depending on if you have walls selected, or have wall and floor stock also defined.

The floorstock is 0, wallstock also, but no wall geometry is specified, part stock is 0.4.
The face milling comes after roughing.
The result: the path is on the original face. What is the problem?

The path is on "0" radial and axial too. If I pick inherit stock, nothing happened.
The method is "METHOD". Face_milling is the same.

If I enter a part offset in the workpiece, and wall stock in face milling, they acumulate as I expect.
In face milling, floor stock is independent of these.
If you want the offset and stock applied uniformly, please look at cavity milling.

So there is no way to set final_floor_stock as inherited..

I had exactly the same problem for many year´s ago - but it is still not possible to use the "part offset" to EDM electrode,
if you want to use the 2D operations . Floorstock in planarmill and facemill won´t inherite the value so you get the expected Z value´s in your NC program.
But I have an alternative solution to make a undersized electrode in CAM.
Just wavelink a body into your CAM part an make a negative "Offset Face" to your electrode body .( remember to set the Facerule to "Bodyfaces".
Then just make operations on the body -

Otherwise, when I use negative offset in CAM, it is hard to check the result..
I would like to make manufacturing faster, and automate as many steps as possible..
