Machinability of AISI 347

Machinability of AISI 347

Machinability of AISI 347

(OP)
I have seen on a list that compere to a steel of reference AISI 304 or 316 machinibility is 45% (source engineering toolbox).
This value describes the ease with wich a steel can be machined.

For AISI 347 it is 36%. I wonder if this could cause some troubles to get surface roughness of Ra0.8 (we can get this value with 304 and 316).

Could we have other problem at machining stage with this steel?

Thanks for your reply.

RE: Machinability of AISI 347

you should get a little tearing from the CbC particles.
It shouldn't be bad. That is only a 32 u inch finish.
