just seen this:

anybody knows this or any similar tool/plugin/VBA script?

I'd already be happy with an easy way to draw those diagrams without having to set out lots of points, although above application does seem very interesting...

RE: calculating/drawing shear, moment, deflection diagrams using acad ?

I don't know for a fact, however, I think that it can be done with LISP.

Beam and Column Calculator in Autodesk Inventor
or
Frame analysis in Autodesk Inventor Professional

students can get Inventor for free from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity

Thanks for your replies.

About "any similar tool", I was hoping a similar plug-in for a'cad, as I won't be getting Inventor where I work.
And my skills of LISP and/or VBA are waaaay to small for getting anywhere near that.
I am not a student, so getting a student version of Inventor is out of the question.

About the other part of the question, "drawing these diagrams", how do you guys do that?
by hand, first calculating the functions, and then plotting several points + connecting them by a spline?
or is there a more efficient way?

Does MASSPROP give you what you need?

From what I remember, massprop only gives specific properties from a cut view of a section.
So, to answer your question, no it doesn't, unless I remember wrongly or it has changed.
