flow trough a centrifugal compressor

flow trough a centrifugal compressor

flow trough a centrifugal compressor

(OP)
Hello,

I'm looking for an equation which shows a relation between the fact that when the density of air becomes larger the flow through a centrifugal compressor increases
For example: the flow increases with a factor 1.15 from 35°C to 5°C.

This is with constant pressure of the compressor

Thanks a lot

RE: flow trough a centrifugal compressor

Are you talking volume or mass?

I would assume that the could remain constant (if the compressor had the required duty - then when desity increased of course mass flow would go up.

for air 35 deg C to 5 deg C corresponds to an increase in desity of (273.15+5)/(273.15+35)=11% other gasses may see a larger density increaes at the mentioned temperature drop.

Best Regards

Morten

The volume at the inlet of the compressor remains constant, but the mass increases because of the increase of density.

Now I want to know the relation that the flow through the compressor becomes greater because of an increase of density.
The reason is because the compressor compresses the same volume but with a bigger density.
