Cold/Hot Working 6061 Aluminum after TIG or MIG Welding.
Cold/Hot Working 6061 Aluminum after TIG or MIG Welding.
(OP)
I recently had 6061 aluminum braces (1/8”thick) welded onto 6061 aluminum carts. I am not sure whether these were welded with TIG or MIG processes. However, the welded
areas has excessive spatter and the carts are now distorted and misaligned. What, if any, pre heat or post heat is required when welding aluminum with TIG or MIG? Can I cold or hot work these carts to correct for misalignment, and what are the recommended temperatures?

if there is a spatter it is because of mig welding and you can do cold to some extent, it is better to do some preheating
