CALCULATION OF THE FLOATING HEAD CONFIGURATION OF SPLIT RING TYPE D

CALCULATION OF THE FLOATING HEAD CONFIGURATION OF SPLIT RING TYPE D

CALCULATION OF THE FLOATING HEAD CONFIGURATION OF SPLIT RING TYPE D

(OP)
Hi all,

I have to check an existing heat exchanger type AES with the configuration type D of split ring. I know that TEMA indicates two equations for shear and bending. I would like to know when it's usefull this kind of split ring and how calculate the value of W.

Thanks in advance.

RE: CALCULATION OF THE FLOATING HEAD CONFIGURATION OF SPLIT RING TYPE D

The split ring is needed so that the floating tube bundle can be removed. The value of W can be calculated from Appendix 2 of the ASME Code Section VIII. The section in the code that covers the floating head flange design provides details as to which specific code paragraphs to use.
