Using the 0.7 wind deflection check reduction for a Free Standing Wall?

Using the 0.7 wind deflection check reduction for a Free Standing Wall?

Using the 0.7 wind deflection check reduction for a Free Standing Wall?

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any literature in the code that allows or warns against the use of the 0.7 reduction for checking deflection of a component and cladding (per Table 1604.3 footnote f) on a wall that was designed using the "Freestanding Wall" procedure. The wall I am designing consists of cantilevered HSS Posts spaced at 10' o.c. and is about 25' high, and has a metal panel screen attached to them. The finish is flexible, and the screens surround an equipment yard at ground level (roofless).
I think the wall behaves like a freestanding wall, and is not part of the MWFRS, so it can also be considered c&c, but wanted to see what seemed reasonable to others, and if anyone is aware of anything that clearly distinguishes between a Freestanding Wall and C&C.
It seems like this 0.7 factor is something that comes up often, but this was not something that I could find addressed in the archive.

Thanks!
