Seismic Resistance of Structural sheathing to Light gauge studs...

Seismic Resistance of Structural sheathing to Light gauge studs...

(OP)
Is there an AISI book that has a table that specs allowable shear loads for the different stud gauges and sheathing thickness. I need lateral load resistance from structural sheathing nailed to light gauge steel studs but I cant find an allowable load table. I have the AISI CFS design manual and the NASDCS and its commentary but I dont have AISI-Lateral...

Im in California so these values need to be acceptable for seismic loads.

Will the AISI - Lateral provide these tables? Do I need to buy it?

Thanks for your time!

Angeles metals used to have tables for this - plywood screwed to metal studs (not nailed!). You might check old ER reports under "Angeles Metals".

The Cold Formed Steel Engineers Institute has a Technical Note on Diaphragm (floor and roof) Design with Pneumatically Driven Pins. It references a couple ICBO Evaluation Reports that also have some information on shearwalls.

ER 5667 http://www.icc-es.org/reports/pdf_files/UBC/5667.p...
ER 4144 http://www.etf-fastening.com/pdf/4144.pdf
ER 5380 http://www.icc-es.org/reports/pdf_files/UBC/5380.p...

I don't think the reports are current. But, you might contact some pneumatic shot-pin manufactures to see if they have any information.

I think IBC 2003 or 2006 had it??

AISI-Lateral has the information you need section C2.2 and table C2.1-3
