Dxf Translation Issues

Dxf Translation Issues

Dxf Translation Issues

(OP)
I have a file that I need to send to a customer, in dxf format. It appears to be exporting properly. However I wished to check and make sure it was correctly exported.

When attempting to import it runs through the import process appears as if it were going to complete but finally comes up with an error message which states: "Translation did not complete."

Is there a setting file that can be modified to get the import dxf to work?

I have attempted to use several different settings for the export, but nothing so far has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Dxf Translation Issues

Since DXF is an Autodesk format, i use one of Autodesks freeware viewers to verify exports.
Doing a export-import might not tell the entire truth.

For the error message it's difficult to say something without examples, files, logfiles etc.

Regards,
Tomas

RE: Dxf Translation Issues

I have used the free edrawings viewer in the past, it worked well for checking dxf files.

I once had the magic combination of settings to produce dxf files the way I needed them; alas, that sticky note has eluded me for years now. The tried and true fallback method has been to export a .cgm file, then create a new (blank template) file and import the cgm into it (this will convert all the geometry into lines/arcs) then export the dxf from this file.
