BASIC WELD DESIGN
BASIC WELD DESIGN
(OP)
where can i found information for a moment resisting weld design?
i think my units doesn't work;
i have fv+fb=45 ksi
and i need to found out if a 6" sq. tube with weld all around will work!
do i need to use C=T= ? OR Fb allow. = 0.3x70x0.707x0.25 = 3.71 k/in
IF I PROVIDE 6" WELD : 3.71 x 6 = 22.2 k (THIS GIVES ME POUNDS AND I HAVE ksi ABOVE)
I KNOW IM DOING SOMETHING WRONG BUT DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS
PLS HELP
THANKS

i have a horizontal tube welded to a vertical column similar to the structures you see on the freeways where they show the offramps exits. i have a 28 psf wind pressure over an area of 145 sq. ft. = to a force of 4,060 #. An arm length of 28.5' that gives me a moment of 115,710 #-ft. total moments including weight = 177,698 #-ft
i apreciate any help

when I joined this forum " engineering-tips", I was unaware it was restricted to practicing professionals only. My thought was every professional can join, including EIT's. I respect your opinion and I will seek assistance somewhere else.
