Is all the piping subject to pressure test by B31.1?

Is all the piping subject to pressure test by B31.1?

Is all the piping subject to pressure test by B31.1?

(OP)
Hi,
Recently I stared to work using ASME B31.1 and have a question regarding pressure test. Para. 136.4.1 says "welds not requiring examination (i.e., RT, UT. MT, or PT) by this Code....shall be judged acceptable if they meet the examination requirements of para. 136.4.2 and the pressure test requirements specified in para. 137." In para. 137.1.1 it says "the pressure testing of piping systems to ensure leak tightness shall be acceptable for the determination of any leaks in piping subassemblies." These being said, am I correct if I say welds that have been RT do not need be pressure tested?
Or should I understand that para. 136.4.1 is talking about "welds," and para. 137.1.1 talking about "leak tightness," these are two different things, therefore to ensure leak tightness you need to do presure test regardless of para. 136.4.1?
Thank you for inputs.

RE: Is all the piping subject to pressure test by B31.1?

Paragraph 136.4.1 doesn't apply to your weld since you say the weld has been radiographed. With all due respect, don't try making assumptions. Read the Code.

poko2,
Read 137.3.1 and 137.3.2
All piping requires hydrotest whether it has been radiographed or not.
The only exemption is an Initial Service Test when specified by the owner,

Kiwi
