RE: bore field motor

Is there a question somewhere in there?

Is there a question somewhere in there?

Yes there is. The internet is gradually killing all forms of grace or decorum in the written word. What you see is the new way to ask a question via the internet -one merely states a few random details of his/her latest crisis, then sits back and waits for comments from the millions who waste countless hours on the web.

My translation - "My motor seemed fine until I plunged it under water, now it appears to be shorted somehow. I don't want to bother with trouble shooting it, will someone please tell me what is wrong?"

RE: bore field motor

Bad splices.

I will try to help. Evidently water got into the motor or cable connections when it was submerged into the borehole. Nothing to do but pull it out and check for water in the motor, cable box, or as said in splices in the cable. Better sealing is needed obviously. Some submersible pump motors are oil filled, maybe there was no oil. The cable should not have any underwater splices actually, maybe a new cable is needed. Just some ideas.

What is the voltage and KW rating of the motor?

RE: bore field motor

I would try to help, but the only information I got from the initial post was that the motor megged bad when submerged. I would like to know if this is an oil-filled, water filled, or just a sealed motor. They all three have different basic install troubleshooting, which should be in the installation manual that came with the motor. Even just having the motor information would be helpful (information like manufacturer, frame, voltage, horsepower, etc.)
