Hello

Is there a safe way to speed up a dayton gearmotor? Would 2x the power from 12 to 24 burn it out? Can anyone recommend a good 200-300 rmp Dc or AC motor that can be used on a motorized camera slider? It would need to be small 3x3x3 and it will need to haul about 20 pounds along a rail. Has anyone seen any after market dayton gear motors enclosure? I am using a 5mm timing belt. Any suggestions would be great. If anyone has any experience with camera sliders I would love to talk to you on the side.

Thanks for your time

RE: Dayton Gearmotor 2L010

No you can't speed it up by doubling the voltage.

No idea (other than guessing) exactly what a "camera slider" is, but if you are looking to smoothly move a camera on a linear rail of some sort, you should be looking at a servo motor so that you can control the acceleration and deceleration rates, as well as the finite positioning. Doing it with something like a Dayton gear motor will result in jerking starts and stops, probably resulting in damage to the carrier if there is any weight involved. This may be more than you bargained for and we would need to play 20 (more like 50) questions with you. You may want to get some experienced help that can see exactly what you want to do.
