Design of fillet welds for FEA stresses

Design of fillet welds for FEA stresses

Design of fillet welds for FEA stresses

(OP)
I am checking fillet welds in the steel plate structure. The structure has been modeled as FE. I appreciate an advice or a reference to the paper discussing how to fonvert FEA stresses into shear demands on the fillet welds. Thank you!

RE: Design of fillet welds for FEA stresses

Generally plate stresses in FEA can be obtained in a variety of directions and for the top and bottom of the plate. For a typical xyz coordinate system, the plate stresses will affect the weld in two planes...xz and xy. Find the worst case and design the weld for it.

This is all dependent on your part geometry and modeling geometry though!
