Section View Orientation & Manual Dimensions

Section View Orientation & Manual Dimensions

(OP)
I am on UG NX 7.5

First, I have a section view that I want the orientation of the view itself to be horizontal while the section plane is along an axis that is not horizontal or vertical. I thought this was standard drafting practice but I cannot figure out how to do it in NX.

Next, I cannot figure out how to do a manual dimension (overwrite). I have tried Edit -> Annotation -> Text but it just appends it to the existing dimension and does not replace. You have a choice to put it before, after, on top, on bottom.... The initial dimension always remains.

Thanks!

RE: Section View Orientation & Manual Dimensions

When the cut line is at an angle, the resulting view will be shown at the same angle. If you want to rotate it back to horizontal, right click the view and choose Style... on the general tab there is an input for angle. Change the angle value to the same value that your cut line is angled (may need to use a negative input to rotate it back).

For the dimension Edit -> annotation -> text is correct, then pick the dimension and the value should show up in the text input box. Delete this value (a warning message will appear at this point) and enter your desired text and press OK.

Oh, and make sure you are picking the dimension itself and not any appended text that may be associated to the dimension.

Edit -> Annotation -> Text is correct but you have to pick it from the menu on the application tool bar. You cannot pick it from the right click menu. I did the same thing along with several others ...

Cheers!
