Hole dimension in PMI

Hole dimension in PMI

Hole dimension in PMI

When adding annotation to model views (not drafting mode) most text aligns smartly as you rotate the view. But hole dimensions lock into the plane normal to the axis. Is there any setting that will give more flexibility for hole dimension placement in NX 6?

RE: Hole dimension in PMI

Exactly HOW are you creating a "hole dimension" in a Modeling view? Are you sure that you're creating a PMI object or simply a normal Drafting dimension?

RE: Hole dimension in PMI

This is working as designed. Both 'Hole' and 'Diameter' dimensions align (lie within the same plane) with the circles/arcs being dimensioned. The same is true of 'Radius', 'Radius to Center', 'Folded Radius' and 'Arc Length', as well as 'Angle', 'Perpendicular', etc.

So I presume then that there is no setting that allows these dimensions to be placed in a different plane. Good to know, thanks.

Related to this, in Model Based Definition, it is required that when a dimension is selected all holes that it is specifying need to highlight. For example, 12X dia .250, all 12 holes should highlight when you select that dimension. However, NX does not allow us to select the other 11 after making the first dimension. Is there a trick to this?
