threaded post/stud and sheet metal
threaded post/stud and sheet metal
(OP)
Hello-
I'm trying to figure out how to attach threaded post to a flat piece of sheet metal part so that one side of the sheet metal would still be flat, and on the other side, the threads would still be accessible for fasteners to tighten up near to or even coincident to the sheet metal. Think threading a hex bolt fully through a tapped hole in the sheet metal, cutting the head off of the bolt, and the remaining stud would still be sturdy enough to fasten other parts up to the sheet metal.
Many thanks!

- let's say something around 11-17 gg. steel
8-32 or 10-24 thread
may need to use different material for threads and sheet metal
Many thanks!
