Associative Angle in WCS XY plane

Associative Angle in WCS XY plane

Associative Angle in WCS XY plane

Is it possible to get an associative angle measurement using Datum CSYS's using option 'Anlge in WCS XY plane'? When this option is selected the 'OK' and 'Apply' are not available.

RE: Associative Angle in WCS XY plane

Expand Settings in the menu and you will see an associative toggle.
Then pick the axis that you want as the rotation axis, then the datum planne that will be your reference, and you will be prompted for an angle.

Jerry,

I do have the associative option checked on, i'm choosing two planes of two different datum csys's...I get a value but no 'OK' or 'apply' to create the Measurement Feature.

RE: Associative Angle in WCS XY plane

You can't make the measurement associative when "WCS XY Plane" is chosen. My guess as to why is because the WCS XY plane isn't itself associative - when you move/rotate the WCS should the measurement update? or should it take a snapshot of where the XY plane was at the time of the measurement?

As a workaround, you might try creating a datum plane on your current XY plane, create intersection curves between this new plane and your planes of interest, and finally create an associative measurement between these new lines. A bit of a kludge, but might work for what you want.

Perhaps having a way to associate a given plane to the "evaluation plane" option would be a good addition to the measure angle command. You can contact GTAC and have them open an enhancement request (ER) to that effect if you want that option in a future version of NX.

I agree cowski, I think this would be a good enhancement. If anyone out there has later releases of NX than what I have, please let me know if this option is available.
