Working under related P.E. apply?

Working under related P.E. apply?

Working under related P.E. apply?

(OP)
I worked in a engineering firm and under the supervision of a P.E. that is related to me. Will I have a problem submitting my work experience for the P.e. certification requirements?

RE: Working under related P.E. apply?

To my knowledge, no, this isn't an issue.

Eastern United States

No problem in Tennessee or Georgia.

Check your own state, or, if not in the US, the rules of your PE governing authority.

You shouldn't have a problem with NCEES either.

Best to you,

Goober Dave

Change your last name -- No shouldn't be a problem

RE: Working under related P.E. apply?

I didn't have any problems using my
father, who was my supervising professional.
Best decision I ever made was to work with
my dad; he taught me how to be a professional,
the importance of protecting clients (sometimes from
themselves), engineering, and how to run a business.
I also was fortunate enough to work with him the last
9 years of his life. You shouldn't have any issues.

RE: Working under related P.E. apply?

Been a while since I filled out the application.... but I thought there was a section that required me to get references from 5 different people 3 of which needed to be registered PE who are familiar with my work and who are not relatives. One of the 3 PE must be your current supervisor. This never made sense to me.

I imagine that you would need to check with your board to see if you would have any problems.
