Over greasing

Over greasing

(OP)
Can somebody please tell me how overgreasing of bearings can lead to incresed bearing temperatures?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Over greasing

By having too much grease you have more friction in the system and shearing all that grease induce heat generation.

RE: Over greasing

By having too much grease in a system,
the air cannot help cool or remove the
heat.  The grease acts as an insulator
as well as causing more resistance to
the rolling elements.  Very few beaing
are over greased.  At high rpms the
grease probably starts foaming and
breaks down the grease.
