Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

(OP)
Dear All,

I am new in this forum. I had tried to find something about this subject, but I had not find nothing similar.

I would like to have a tool for extract the free-body results of something like 100 cases. The ideas is then post-process them in excel using analytic analysis.

There are various possibilities (build reports in patran or hypermesh, extract direly from F06, etc.) but I would like to ask you what is the fastest and less tedious approach, to have the free-body results of various parts for this all load cases.

Thanks for your knowledge sharing.

Best regards,
JPL

RE: Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

I'm not sure what software you have available, but the basic procedure we use for MSC.Patran is:
  • Results-->Create-->Freebody-->Loads (assuming this is the tool you want to use)
  • 1st block of options: Select results case, type, and whether to transform
  • 2nd block of options: You can choose to select specific elements/etc (optional)
  • 3rd block of options: Forces/Moments/Planar/etc. Now click "Display Attributes..."
  • Click the boxes "Text Report" and also "Append"
  • Hit Apply, and if you have a large number of results, grab a coke or check your email while it runs
This causes Patran to output all selected results to a text file. If you select several results cases, after showing the first one, it will ask to proceed, then start adding the results for all the other cases. This can take a while, but at the end of it you have a big text file you can parse in Excel.

RE: Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

go you print (in f06) the gpf for a select bunch of nodes ? (in femap, we could make a group of a bunch of nodes and print gpf for the group)

RE: Automatic method for extraction freebody loads

Hi,

In Femap we can use an API program to send freebody results for several cases to excel by one click. I think it's the best way.

first you will have to select the output results, then the nodes/elements and the Excel file will be launched with results.
