Operating vs Service temperature

Operating vs Service temperature

(OP)
Hi,

Can any one please tell me what do you mean by service temeprature and operating temperature of an aircraft.

RE: Operating vs Service temperature

not really sure of the context, but i'd say "operating" might be more like the extreme temperatures that the plane can work at, and "service" is the typical temperature for normal operations.

an example might help ...

vivekpdd ...

Here is how I see Your issue... Apples and oranges, to a certain extent.

Operating temperature relates strictly to the equipment, ie: nominal temperatures + excursion temperatures over time.

Example: 350F normal [xxx-PSI], 375F max-normal[xxx-PSI], with short duration excursions [2-minutes]up-to 425F maximum [yyy-PSI], for less than 100-hours total time, thru normal life (10,000-hours).

Service temperature relate to the ability of the materials within the equipment to withstand operating temperatures, at a specified load, for a specified period of time... which must equal or exceed the actual operating conditions for the quipment to meet rated performance/duration.

Example [for the example noted above]: plastic rated at 400F-continuous service @ xxx-PSI for 10,000-hours, with short duration excursions [5 minutes maximum] to 450F @ yyy-PSI (for less than 100-hours total time, thru normal life (10,000-hours).
