M Modifier V/S Envelope Rule

M Modifier V/S Envelope Rule

(OP)
HI All,

I have a question, when a hole is positioned with M modifer associated with the tolarnce value.
The boundary (MMC - Pos Tol Value), will define the VCB.

1) Does the envelpoe requirement need to full fill separetly? How does it benefit? If the function is assembly then ,if Virtual Condition Boundary is met, is that not enough?

See a snap shot from ISO standard (attached), it clearly says Envelope requirement is not needed when you are using M modifier in the FCF. I think in ASME we need to meet the envelope requirement as well. Need to know how it will benefit us.?

Please share your thoughts on this and help me to understand more smile
