contour drawing for plasmacutting

contour drawing for plasmacutting

We want to make a 30mm thick steel part by plasma-cutting the contour, and then adding small holes etc. on a mill.

I'm having trouble finding a proper way to create both the drawings (drawing for "raw" part and detailed drawing for the mill) and somehow make them dependent on each other and on 1 part number.

Any hints?

RE: contour drawing for plasmacutting

If you model the part with all the feature, but make sure the hole etc, are at the end of the part history, when you go into drafting (master model concept) enter modelling with in the drawing and wave link the body at time stamp using the last feature beore the whole as the time stamp. Then create a flat pattern of from the WAVE linked body that will give you the cutting profile. You can then add the flat pattern view in the drafting along with normal views of the finished component.

Hope this helps

Could you add some more info as to how to do this?
What Licenses do I need?

Alternatively: when I add the part in an empty assembly and make an assembly cut in it, I can model it as if I was in the part itself.
Is there a way to do this without having to use the assembly cut? That way I could add a raw material version as a part inside the requested part and model it to the finished part in the main assembly.

You need a sheet metal licence for the flat pattern I'm not sure about the WAVE as there are two levels to it. You can use something called a promotion instead of WAVE. Have a look for it in the help notes.
