Steady-State Heat Transfer Analysis with FEMAP 10.3.1 and NX Nastran 8.1 (Shell and solid elements)

Hi,

Can anyone give me some tips with Steady-State Heat Transfer Analysis when you have both shell elements and solids in the model. They are connected properly and a static analysis can be performed without any problems.
Is there any special settings you need to change in order to run the analysis when having shell elements???

Thanx and best regards

/Srki

OK, edge-to-surface glued connection is not supported by NX Nastran according to the manual.
Is there any other approach? I cannot do it with just solids because I need to do some parts as shell elements in order to verify against Eurocode (pressurized parts)...

Thanx in advance

Can you stitch the edge to the solid in the FEM? Using the automatic method means the stitch stays associative in case you make further changes to the geometry.

It is not possible for me to stich the surfaces together because they are two cylindrical surfaces with a gap between. Maybe there is a way, but I simply don't have that knowledge to do. I know how to extend surfaces but not when I have two cylindrical parts beside each other with a gap. Anyway, I have fixed it... NX Nastran does not support edge to surface glue connection when using Steady-State Heat Transfer Analysis, instead I needed to use face to face connections between solids and shell elements and in NX Nastran properties for Steady-State H-T-A I changed the option to take gaps as contacts. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem...
